Stephen is the NorTech Fellow in Innovation. His role is to help develop the vision and creation of an initiative designed to spark innovation in mid market manufacturers in NE Ohio.
In 2004, Stephen received his doctorate from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University where he studied personal characteristics and environmental predictors of innovation. He also received a BA from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Interactive Technology in Education from Harvard University.
He came to NE Ohio to be the opening President of The National Inventor Hall of Fame. Prior to coming to the Hall of Fame, Stephen was the VP of Education and Exhibits at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ and the Manager of Public Outreach at the Boston Museum of Science. As a museum start-up consultant, he has worked with dozens of start up museums and nationally expanded museum programs throughout the world.
More recently he was the Chief Imagination Officer of OneCommunity, where he worked with the public sector of NE Ohio to explore what they can do with a fiber driven broadband infrastructure for learning and operations. Stephen was also a Presidential Fellow at Case Western Reserve University where he taught a business planning course; “Just Do it! Ideas, Inspiration and Getting Things Done.”
Stephen comes to NorTech with an extensive background in innovation from the academic, non profit, Fortune 100, and small business sectors. As an innovation and new venture consultant, coach and strategist, Stephen has worked with companies and organizations in manufacturing, academia, education, public television, telecommunications, new media, internet start-ups, financial services, economic development, executive coaching, and museums. Some of the organizations he has worked with include: Ford Motor Company, Polaroid, Children’s Television Workshop, WNET – New York, Corporate College, The Jason Foundation, Forbes, the Jewish Federations of Greater Detroit and Canton, OH and JCC of Cleveland.
